La Ventana and El Sargento are located just 40 minutes east of La Paz or about two hours north of Cabo San Lucas in Baja California Sur, Mexico.

The warm bay and crystal blue waters have made this a popular place for both relaxation and recreation. The rugged an beautiful Isla Cerralvo lies 11 miles offshore protecting the bay an providing dramatic views.

A unique feature of this area is that virtually all of the residential property is situated on land that gently up-slopes from the Sea of Cortez to the Sierra de la Laguna mountains – which guarantees that every almost home will have a view.

The location of Isla Cerralvo along with the mountains creates a unique venturi that has made Bahia de La Ventana one of the most popular places to kiteboard and windsurf.

Thermal winds are generated from mid October though the end of March. November through February are the most popular months for the wind crazed crowd.

The natural shape of the bay provides safety for beginners and excellent conditions for advanced windsurfers and kitesurfers. The bay hooks around so if you end up downwind, you will always come ashore on a sandy beach.

Bring a shorty wetsuit for October and November. A 3/2 or 4/3 wetsuit with long legs is recommended for late November though early March.

The snorkeling and scuba diving around La Ventana and El Sargento is unlimited in its diversity and beauty.Try a snorkel at Punta Arena, la Bufadora, or in Bahia de los Muertos (los Sueños).

Although the Ponga’s are usually the preferred method of fishing, plenty of action can also be had from the shore, from a kayak, or in a zodiac.Popular fish include Dorado, Yellow Fin, Yellow Tail, Wahoo, Marlin, Sierra, Cabrilla, Grouper, and Rosterfish. Fishing tours can be arranged through Baja Joe’s, Palapas Ventana, or most of the other hotels.

Whether you are using a rod or a spear, the Sea of Cortez has the best fishing in the world.

The list of activities goes on and on…There are good mountain bike trails, trails for motorcycles and ATVs, hikes to spectacular waterfalls, kayaking, yoga, Spanish language classes, bird and nature watching, and so much more.

La Paz is a short drive away to provide all the niceties of a city, including a 12 screen movie complex, good shopping, great dining, fun night life, and several festivals throughout the year.
